How to find and use RollingRescue Here is the url to our RollingRescue "homepage" location at yahoogroups: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rollingrescue You go there and sign up for RollingRescue. When you arrive at the "homepage" of a yahoo group you do not belong to, it will tell you, in the upper right hand corner, "You do not belong to this group." There will be a link, also near the top that says, "Join This Group." Use that link and join. If you do not already have a "Yahoo Identity" (persona)you will need to register for Yahoo and set up a name for yourself. Very soon after you submit your membership, you will get the welcome and instructions for posting to rolling rescue. Read them over, make your post up, supplying all the requested information and using the format shown there and email it to rollingrescue@egroups.com. About half way down the directions is a sample form that can actually be copied, pasted into a new email and filled out, removing a few obviously instructional words as you go. Some find that helpful. If you are used to transport lists that have no format and carry on conversations back and forth on the list, rollingrescue will be different for you. The welcome and directions explain why we are different. If you plan to use the same post for many different transport lists, you will want to probably make up your rollingrescue post first and use it as the one you send to everyone else. We are adament about concise, organized posts that provide all the important information needed for someone to know if they can help or not without emailing back and forth several times. ... and which also lends itself to being filed and sorted easily to referrence when someone is on the move and wonders if there is a transport they could help with. I would suggest that you set your subscription to either Email or Daily Digest so that you receive all the posts coming to the list. That allows you to see any other transports taking place in the same area as yours. And while a trucker can't take but one or two dogs, you may find another more traditional relay style transport that you could join forces with. Then, after you join, you can also click on the link on the homepage called Database. That will take you to our Directory of Transport Volunteers. Add your own personal information and note any individuals that are in the area of your run. You can contact them individually. All posts are moderated, they will come direct to us before they go to the board. If a new member needs help fine tuning a post, we will help them do that. If you get the directions and read them over and have questions before you post, feel free to email me back. Thanks, Laurel B RollingRescue Transport List Email to: rollingrescue-owner@yahoogroups.com
